Quixotic Day 3

Left Missouri with signs for Kingdom City; I felt Jesus all around me and thoughts of childhood. Passed the Missouri River which was majestic and surrounded by a large wetlands area, quiet, serene. Spent a long time crossing Kansas; in fact still there. The Kansas Prairies are vast. I mean vast. But they're beautiful. Flat forever into the horizon at times. Other times small hills and valleys. When the road cuts through them where they were blasted and cut you see the layers of sediment brown, orange, red, rock, sand. I could imagine the Jurassic period here must have been happening. Now, lots of Black Angus roaming. Oh, and it's windy so you have fields of these huge wind mills. Don Quixote would've had a heart attack.

Big sky up above. I kept looking for twisters or anything foreboding, although there's nowhere to hide. I'd have to try to outrun it. Weather changes quickly and could be sunny one moment and dark spiraling clouds the next. Unexpectedly, I did not get any rain today. Finally dry.

To answer Greg's question about my broken speedo/odo. I pulled into a H-D dealer in Salina, KS and they diagnosed it to be the sensor which plugs through the cable to the rear of the tranny. But they didn't have the part so I'm still out. I got the part number though to get it installed somewhere along the way. Guys in service were competent and nice; took me in right away knowing I was in transit. Their eyes lit up with visions of "cross-county."

Stopped to eat at a local bar tonight, aptly named: Twister. Beer and a bourbon to celebrate a good day.
