The photo's a little blurred above but the digital thermometer I rigged to my handlebars was reading 118 deg. F. in the sun at a stop about 100 miles outside Death Valley.
We later rode through the Mojave Desert. Coming over a spectacular mountain range the temps dropped to 78 deg. and felt much cooler. That's when Greg's bike broke down. We spent about 2-3 hours roadside trying to fix it. Finally we had to tow it to Bakersfield where we were staying that night.
